Declan Flanagan, Chief Executive Officer
Declan is co-founder and CEO of Lincoln Renewable Energy. Previously Declan served as CEO of E.ON Climate & Renewables North America Inc., a subsidiary of E.ON AG, the world's largest investor owned utility. Declan joined E.ON in 2007 through its acquisition of Airtricity North America where he also served as CEO.
Declan held various senior management positions with Airtricity in Europe before relocating to the United States in 2003 to establish Airtricity North America. In four years from a standing start, Airtricity North America grew to a valuation of $1.4 billion when sold to E.ON. During Declan's tenure with E.ON he led the deployment of over $3 billion in project investment and the company grew its U.S. renewable generation portfolio eightfold, becoming a Top 5 owner of wind power capacity in the US with an operating portfolio of over 1,700 MW. As a Board member of E.ON's global renewables business, Declan also worked on E.ON's investments in solar PV, solar thermal, biomass and offshore wind power.
Declan is a non-executive director of Velocitel Inc., a telecom and energy focused engineering company and Sorian Inc. an early stage company focused on wind blade technology. Declan is also active in industry groups and serves on the advisory board of the Chicago Clean Energy Trust, is a former member of the Board of the American Wind Energy Association and has served as Grand Final Judge in the MIT Clean Energy Prize. Declan holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, an M.Sc. from the University of Ulster and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from the National University of Ireland.
Richard Gruber, SVP Business Development
Richard brings to LRE more than 25 years of power and natural gas industry experience and most recently served as President of Schott Solar CSP where he led Schott’s successful entry into the U.S. solar thermal marketplace.
Prior to Schott Solar, Richard served as Vice President of Project Development for First Solar, the world’s largest thin-film solar PV manufacturer and project developer. Richard initiated First Solar’s project business with the successful development of the largest PV solar projects then constructed in the U.S. and established the development team instrumental in First Solar’s acquisition and integration of a multi-billion dollar project development pipeline. Prior to First Solar, Richard held leadership positions at Texas grid operator ERCOT, natural gas utility NUI Corporation and was co-founder and COO of Exchange Development Company, LLC. Richard began his career at Tennessee Gas Transmission.
Richard is a former board member the Solar Energy Industry Association (SEIA) and has testified on energy industry issues before multiple state Public Utility Commissions and state legislatures. Richard attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School, holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and a B.A. in Economics from Southern Methodist University.
John Stone, VP Project Management
John has over 20 years experience in the management of large scale construction projects in the power and infrastructure sectors.
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, John was with Horizon Wind Power the North American business of EDP Renewables. While at Horizon, John led the construction of over 700 MW of wind power projects in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest. Prior to Horizon, John was a vice president with URS Corporation’s Construction Services Division. Earlier in his career John held various project management positions in specialty electrical contracting in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic. John began his career as an engineer with Sargent & Lundy.
John holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Trine University.
Sanjeev Menon, VP Finance
Sanjeev has over 15 years experience in structured finance (senior & mezzanine debt, tax equity and equity placements) as well as project development.
Sanjeev joined Lincoln Renewable Energy from SunPower, where he led over $300 million in facility financings for US solar PV projects. Prior to SunPower, Sanjeev held various finance positions with United Financial of Illinois, TL1 Partners Inc., and General Electric Capital Corporation, closing over $1 billion in debt and equity financings in power and telecom sectors.
Sanjeev holds an MBA from Columbia University and a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas.
Matt Bigham, VP Finance
Prior to joining LRE, Matt served as Senior Vice President at Inland Private Capital Corporation (IPCC), a subsidiary of The Inland Real Estate Group of Companies, which collectively owns and operates diversified commercial real estate portfolios totaling 129 million square feet and approximately $25 billion in value. At IPCC, Matt led the underwriting, structuring, financing and preparation of private placement offerings of commercial real estate investments and helped develop and manage an investment platform that has collected approximately $1 billion in capital and has acquired approximately $2 billion in assets. Prior to Inland, Matt worked as an auditor for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Matt holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Patrick Guinness, VP Development
Patrick has over 14 years of experience in project development and corporate finance. Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Patrick was co-founder and President of Sustainable Energy Development Company, LLC (SEDCo) which was formed to develop sites for utility-scale solar PV projects. Patrick joined Lincoln Renewable Energy through its acquisition of SEDCo and now leads development activities in the western United States. From 2001 through 2008, Patrick was founder and President of Guinness Development Company, Inc. which developed multi-family residential projects in Colorado. Previously, Patrick held various positions in corporate finance with Key Bank and in mergers and acquisitions with Nissho Iwai, an international trading company. Patrick holds an MBA from the University of Denver’s Daniels School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Vermont.
Byron Boone, Senior Development Director
Byron comes to Lincoln Renewable Energy from Serious Materials, where he worked as a Business Development Manager in their energy efficient windows division. From 2001 to 2007, Byron worked in wind energy both as a Project Technical Coordinator for Renewable Energy Systems (RES) and as a Sales Manager for Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation. At RES Byron designed wind farms across the US, Canada, and Scotland and at Suzlon he helped close more than 1,500 MW of turbine sales contracts. Byron holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a BA in Engineering Sciences from Harvard University.
Philip Moore, Project Development Director
Philip joins LRE from Renewable Energy Systems (RES Americas), where he focused on developing utility scale wind projects. Philip led the development of over 1.4 GW of wind projects, including the successful completion of the largest single-phase wind farm in Oklahoma. Earlier in his career Philip held positions within the U.S. Department of Energy focusing on renewable energy technologies. Philip has been active in renewable energy industry groups, serving as a board member of the Wind Coalition and was actively involved in the American Wind Energy Association. Philip holds a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Joseph Jordan, Project Development Director
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Joe worked in various international development roles including 2 years as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in El Salvador and 4 years as a project manager with Chemonics International, an international development consulting company based in Washington DC. While at Chemonics Joe managed over $40 million in service contracts in regions such as Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa and Eastern Europe. Joe holds an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin and a B.A. in International Studies from Austin College in Sherman, Texas.
Phillip Stephenson, Project Development Director
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Phillip was a co-founder of S3 Wireless, an Internet Service Provider using Wimax technology to deliver broadband Internet in Colombia. Following the sale of S3 Wireless Phillip earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management. While at MIT, Phillip completed internships in venture capital with Venrock and renewable energy with Omniwatt. Phillip completed his undergraduate studies at Reed College where he earned a B.A. in Economics.
Jason Tundermann, Project Development Director
Jason Tundermann has 10 years of project development and investment evaluation experience in both start-up and investment management environments. Prior to joining LRE, Jason was a founder of EcoCurrent, Inc., a technology development company focused on biomass gasification projects in the southeast US. Prior to EcoCurrent, Jason was with Cherokee Investment Partners, a $2 billion real estate investment fund focused on the remediation and redevelopment of contaminated properties throughout the U.S. and Europe. Earlier in his career Jason held various positions in environmental and land-use consulting in California. Jason holds an M.B.A. from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and a B.A. in Biology from Harvard University.
Jessica Elengical, Project Development Director
Jessica joins Lincoln Renewable Energy from Exelon Generation Company. As a member of the Structuring and Portfolio Management group, she led the execution of long-term power transactions and formulated recommendations on wholesale business growth opportunities and capital investment decisions. Prior to Exelon, Jessica was an Associate in the Commodities division of Barclays Capital, where she developed structured investment solutions for corporate and retail clients invested in commodities. She has also held positions in structured finance at JPMorgan Chase and Standard and Poor’s. Jessica completed her M.B.A from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and has a B.A. in Economics from Georgetown University.
Neil O'Donovan, Project Development Director
Neil joins Lincoln Renewable Energy from NTR plc, an investor in renewable energy and waste management service businesses in Europe and the US. He was program director in their solar CSP business, Stirling Energy Systems. Prior to joining NTR, he was a member of the European Operations team at the strategy consulting firm, Booz Allen Hamilton (London office). Before that, he was an operations cell leader at GE Energy Services focusing on the gas turbine market in Europe, Middle East and North Africa. Neil has a MSc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a BE in Mechanical Engineering from University College Dublin, Ireland.
Eric Spigelman, Engineer
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Eric gained experience in the wind industry as an engineering intern for Suzlon Wind Energy Corporation. As a member of the engineering team, he was responsible for multiple turbine design, installation, and documentation projects. As an engineering student, Eric led and participated in multiple renewable energy projects, including a senior design project for Iberdrola Renewables. Eric holds a B.S. in General Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a concentration in Renewable and Electric Power Systems. He is a licensed Engineer-in-Training in the State of Illinois.
Chris McKissack, Engineering Director
Chris has 10 years of engineering experience in the design and installation of thermal and renewable energy projects. Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Chris served as an Engineering Program Lead at GE Energy where he was responsible for engineering, procurement and construction for transmission, distribution and wind farm substations. Prior to GE, Chris worked in a variety of engineering roles with Exelon. Chris holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois and has an established Record with NCEES.
Taylor Hammond, General Counsel
Taylor joined Lincoln Renewable Energy from the law firm DLA Piper LLP where his practice focused on real estate, land use and zoning, with an emphasis on transactions involving economic development, incentives and renewable energy projects. Prior to law school, Taylor worked in a variety of medical sales roles with Johnson & Johnson, and was a Captain in the U.S. Army. Taylor holds a J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School and a B.A. in English from Duke University. He is admitted to the Illinois Bar.
Peter Harsy, Associate Counsel
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Peter was an in house counsel at The Inland Real Estate Group, Inc. where he represented clients involved in a wide range of transactions including multimillion dollar acquisitions, dispositions, financings, development and joint ventures. Prior to law school, Peter worked at Deutsche Bank's Asset Management division, DWS Investments. Peter holds a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and a B.A. from the University of San Diego. He is admitted to the Illinois Bar and the New York Bar.
Kevin Bourque, Finance Manager
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Kevin was a Financial Controller with Bridge Strategy Group, LLC. He was responsible for the company’s financial planning and reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, internal control and reporting procedures. Kevin was also a key member of the transaction team for the successful $35 million sale of Bridge Strategy Group and subsequent integration into Satyam Computer Services Limited. Kevin is a Certified Public Accountant and holds B.B.A.s in Finance, Accounting and Economics from Loyola University, Chicago.
Jane Lee, Financial Controller
Prior to joining Lincoln Renewable Energy, Jane worked as a Financial Analyst at Walton Street Capital, LLC and as a Senior Auditor focused on the financial services industry at Deloitte LLP. At Walton Street, Jane worked on variety of real estate portfolios, including office, hotel, multi-family, for-sale residential, and golf assets. Jane is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a B.B.A in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame.
